The Little Man or Doodlebug, as he is affectionately known, came to me in November of 2005 at 9 weeks old. He was independent from a young age, preferring a corner on the hardwood to his expensive dog bed or cuddling in 'New Mom's' lap. He was a happy, active little dog and easily made friends. Two of his most special friends were Rocca, the 100 lb mastiff, and Avalon, the 75 lb Great Dane Puppy. He has always had a thing for older, bigger girls!
He has completed many different training classes and dabbled in agility and flyball. He goes everywhere with me including the bank, the hairdresser, and classes that I teach. He accompanies me whenever I attend an in-home interview with prospective puppy families as well, so most new owners will have had a chance to meet him and see what is possible with loving but firm training!
A bit about Topaz from Tollwest:
"Topaz is pick male from our Adam x Pepsi litter, he lives with Trisha Shanks (Daintree Duck Tollers) here in Calgary. He has a lovely masculine head, a very thick golden-red coat with nice white markings, solid bone with deep angles and excellent bone and substance. Topaz is 19" tall and weighs 42 lbs. He is very friendly, outgoing and confident, with lots of retrieve desire and drive, you can see him on the website for Wubba dog toys, showing off his love to retrieve his favorite toy: Wubba video. He LOVES to swim and hunt squirrels! He was even lucky/fast enough to catch a squirrel one day, click here to see him with his squirrel!
Topaz had his conformation debut in July/06. He spent his first weekend in the ring learning what being a showdog was all about, and at his next weekend of showing in August/06, he won his first 2 points! In February/07 he picked up a 3 point Best of Winners, and in August/07 he picked up another 3 points (along with Reserve Winners Dog at the 2007 Alberta Toller Booster), then in his next show in Nov/07 he won another 3 point Best of Winners, to finish his Canadian Championship at just over 2 years old. Topaz has also been training in obedience and agility, and he passed the CGN (Canine Good Neighbor) test in Aug/07. We have plans for him to start trialing for his PCD and RN titles in the coming months.
Topaz is a PRA Carrier and is CEA/CH Clear. His patellas are OFA Normal. OFA Thyroid results are normal. He has OFA Good hips and OFA Normal Elbows. His OFA Cardiac exam was normal.
He is the foundation stud at Daintree, and we are now breeding the fourth generation descended from this lovely boy. He was neutered at 12 after having some minor health problems.
Topaz was born and raised on a raw diet, with both his parents also being raw born & raised.
